Who Is Affected by the Transition to E-Invoicing
We will guide you through the changes e-invoicing brings from 2027.
VAT Payers
You will need to both issue and receive e-invoices.Starting January 1, 2027, you will be required to issue and receive e-invoices for transactions in Slovakia as specified by law. This applies to transactions with businesses and legal entities, including public institutions.
Non-VAT Payers
You must be able to receive e-invoices, but you do not have to issue them.If you run a business, you will need an Access Point to receive e-invoices. This applies to sole proprietors, non-profits, municipalities and schools.
Private Individuals
Nothing changes for you when it comes to personal purchases.Mandatory e-invoicing does not apply to your personal purchases or services, such as utilities or cell phone plans.

Frequently asked questions
Does e‑invoicing also apply to non-VAT payers?
Yes. If you run a business or are a legal entity, you must be able to receive the e‑invoices your suppliers are legally required to issue to you. This does not oblige you to issue e‑invoices yourself.
Do non-profits and schools have to receive e‑invoices too?
Yes. Legal entities that do not run a business also need to be able to receive e‑invoices from suppliers who are legally required to issue them. This applies, for example, to non-profit organizations, civic associations and schools with legal personality.
What if I only invoice private individuals?
Mandatory e‑invoicing does not apply to invoicing consumers for their private purchases. As a business, however, you need to be able to receive e‑invoices from your suppliers.
What if an external accountant does my bookkeeping?
Agree with your accountant who will receive the e‑invoices and how they will get to them. In Flowis you can give your accountant access to your inbox, so they have the documents they need for bookkeeping.
Do I have to change my accounting system?
Not necessarily. You can manage e‑invoices in the standalone Access Point app or through a connection to your accounting system.
